Sailing Information
Sailboats reach and run through young dreams on the Fox Islands. The Casino! Home of regional champions, Junior Olympians, America’s Cup competitors, adventure sailors... and most importantly lovers and practitioners of the art of sailing.
The program is soundly rooted in the fundamentals of sailing and racing, taught four times a week in Optimists and 420s. The Casino sailing program emphasizes helping young sailors learn to be comfortable on the water generally and in a sailboat more particularly, with the aim of allowing each sailor to experience the unique natural joy of sailing.
Junior Sailing
Casino sails flash in fierce competition across the Bay. Organized by the instructors of the sailing program and overseen by the Race Committee, races are open to members and students alike.
Series races generally occur on Saturdays and Mondays, while special annual events are scattered throughout the season. Some races involve natural geographic markers like government nuns or spits of land; some are Olympic-style buoy courses.
